Have your homewatch person do this periodically before hurricane season in SW Florida.
- For accordion shutters: unfold shutters all the way to make sure there are no obstructions and tracks are clean.
- For manuel or electric shutters: roll the shutter down to lubricate gears. The Florida heat tends to make lubricants hot and run off gears. Occasional operation passes gears through crankcase lube and assures proper operation. Also check tracks for obstructions and proper lubrication. A quick spray on tracks with silicone can make a world of difference.
Why are these things important? There is no more helpless feeling then to have a shutter inoperable right before a storm!!
